Swami Abhishek Chaitanya Giriji
Swamiji was ordained as the Mahamandaleshwar on 9th march 2013
Born into a humble middle class family, Br. Abhishek Chaitanyaji-ji grew up in the “normal” Indian system of schooling and college. However, his intense love of the spiritual, which was never far below the surface, pressed him to join the Vedanta course of the Chinmaya Mission, soon after graduating from Bombay University. After successfully completing the rigorous Vedanta course there, between 1996-1998, he was posted as the Acharya of Chinmaya Mission, Pune, where he conducted many spiritual classes and camps for people of all ages, from children to adults. His love of spirituality spread beyond Pune through discourses and JnanaYajnas held in nearby towns.
Upholding the Scriptural guidance to serve humanity in all ways, he was very active in the Relief group of Chinmaya mission to cyclone hit areas of Orissa and played an active role in helping the flood victims of the state. Transferred to Chinmaya International Residential School in Coimbatore as the Acharya, he represented the Mission as ex-officio in the management of the school and took an active interest in implementing the specially developed educational programme in the school.
He also acted as Counsellor to students, parents and staff and had numerous opportunities to conduct spiritual classes for teachers as well as students from all the grades. Burning with a desire to study more, for his own fulfilment and so as to be as effective a Teacher as he could be, after 2002 he chose to study Vedantic and Bhakti texts in the traditional way, moving out of the Chinmaya Mission with their blessings. Staying in Vrindavan he studied under Masters such as Swami Vishvatmanandaji, a senior disciple of Pujya Swami Akhandanandaji, and ShriRajaramjiShastri of the Shri RanganathMandir. His next stop in this wonderful journey was Kashi, where he lived and served under DandiTambe Swami ji and continued his learning and sadhana there. He served PujyaDandi Swami HansanandajiMaharaj of Rishikesh and got a firm grounding of Vedantic teachings living with him. Presently he is based in Kashi where he continues his learning of the higher Vedantic texts from PujyaShriDivyaChaitanyajiMaharaj. Vedanta being what it is, he continues to study even as he teaches.
Now Swamiji teaches yoga philosophy, Gita and Meditation at Shivayogapeeth. He also guides the yoga teacher training courses here. He is one of the most spiritual masters in Rishikesh. Swamiji travels to the European and south East asian countries carring the torch of knowledge.
